The Hurricanes Are Back

The Miami Hurricanes are relevant in college football again. After two impressive wins against Florida State and Georgia Tech, this has become quite clear. Jacory Harris is an absolute stud. The Miami fans should thank Marve for transferring, as he cleared up the quarterback controversy. Harris is an incredibly accurate passer and he has great vision. There are a ton of playmakers in this offense and Mark Whipple is looking like a genius. On the defensive side, the Hurricanes got torched against the Seminoles. However, in their next game against Georgia Tech, a team that embarrassed them last year, they had a much better performance. They completely shut down the Jackets last night. The Hurricanes are halfway through their murderous opening to the season. Their confidence should be through the roof after these first two games. When they take on Virginia Tech next week it will be a difficult game. However, they look to be the more talented team and I expect them to come away with the victory.

World Cup Qualifiers

What a wonderful day of soccer its going to be! There are a massive amount of qualifiers today, taking place all around the globe. Also, there are so many important games today, that could determine who makes it to South Africa and who will be staying at home. We will be updating you all day.

Update: First off, well done to Malawi with a great comeback to beat Guinea 2-1.
Egypt survive a scare, but beat Rwanda. The Pharos remain in contention.
Scotland gets a vital victory, 2-0 over Macedonia.

Cameroon have picked up a huge road victory in Gabon. Gabon still lead the group, but the group has tightened up considerably.

Bosnia 2-0 up over Armenia. This would be a very important road win for Bosnia, who now have a great chance at making the playoffs.

Finland have rallied to beat Azerbaijan 2-1. Russia coast to an easy victory over Liechtenstein, 3-0.

Bosnia win it! Now 7 points clear of Turkey!

Well done Luxembourg, they got a tie in Moldova. They now have 5 points in this campaign, one of their best campaigns ever.

Ivory Coast are rolling. They are looking good for South Africa.

Sweden and Denmark both lead at halftime. Portugal are in real trouble.

Playoff for a Playoff: Bahrain take on Saudi Arabia and the winner will then play New Zealand for a spot in the World Cup.

Bulgaria have taken care of business with a 4-1 win against Montenegro.

Holy Cow! Hungary have tied with only 10 minutes to go! Hungary continues to shock the footballing world!

Several Big Developments! Slovakia have taken the lead against their arch rivals the Czechs! Portugal have come back from the death to tie it! And Northern Ireland have taken a stunning lead in Poland!

Denmark are barely hanging on!

But they have done it! Despite conceding late, a point is good for Denmark.

Heartbreak for Hungary! Ibrahimovic wins it for Sweden!

The Czech's had tied it, but Slovakia respond and go back up front!

Latvia have beaten Israel, 1-0. A major disappointment for the Israeli's, as their campaign is all but over. It had started so promisingly for them. For Latvia, they quietly remain in contention as they look to qualify for their second major competition in four attempts.

Poland and the Czech have tied up their games with just 5 minutes to play. That would keep the standings as they were.

Norway and Iceland are tied 1-1, a result that would be great for Scotland.

Croatia hang on for an important three points with a narrow win over Belarus.
Poland and Northern Ireland finished tied 1-1 and the Slovakia Czech Republic match finish 2-2. So the group stays as it was. A bit disappointing for Slovakia who twice had the lead, but are still 1 step closer to the World Cup.

Ireland take down Cyprus on a goal with only 7 minutes remaining!

Austria have beaten the Faroe Islands, 3-1.

Devastating for Norway, as they could only manage a tie with Iceland. Scotland all but have the playoff spot now. Also, the South American qualifiers are underway.

Saudi Arabia escape with a draw in the first leg. France held to a draw against Romania...can you hear the cheers in Belgrade!

Spain are rolling 3-0 up on Belgium, with an hour played.

With 83 minutes left, a freekick is headed in by the Swiss to take a vital 1-0 lead!

You could see it coming! After several great chances, Switzerland rap it up on the counter attack! And that sets off a sea of Swiss flags waving in unison at the St. Jakob Park in Basel.

Right after Colombia scored a late goal against Ecuador to take the lead, Peru have scored against Uruguay! It is all up in the air in South America!

Conspiracy?!? Italy lead Georgia 2-0 on 2 own goals by Kaka Kaladze. Where does he play his club football? Italy!

Colombia add a second to seal a crucial win, Peru takes down Uruguay 1-0.

Italy get the win, 2-0.

Spain crushed Belgium 5-0. Turkey have kept their faint hopes alive with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Estonia. Also, a penalty before halftime has given Paraguay a 1-0 lead over Bolivia.

Paraguay win 1-0 against Bolivia.

El Salvador have taken a shock lead against the USA! Its all up for grabs in CONCACAF!

Dempsy ties it! 1-1, Game on!

Well that didn't take long! Altidore scores and the US lead 2-1 right before halftime.

Honduras get the opener against Trinidad.

Honduras get a second against T&T.

USA hold on for the win 2-1, a critical 3 points for the Americans.

Brazil take down their arch rivals Argentina, 3-1! Impressively, the Brazilians have booked their place in the World Cup.

Honduras win it 4-1 and Mexico have stepped up to take a 3-0 lead in Costa Rica. What a turn around from a couple months ago for the Mexicans.

Venezuela fought back bravely to take the lead against Chile, but Chile rallied to tie it. The point helps Venezuela, but three would have been massive.

Argentina vs Brazil

The title says it all. Argentina vs Brazil. This matchup sends chills down the spines of all soccer fans. There are many great rivalries in international soccer, but this was is the best in my opinion. These two teams have won a combined total 7 World Cups and 22 Copa Americas. Not too mention a factory of great international football stars. These two nations are in the soccer mad continent of South America and have tons of rabid fans. These two countries have played so many important games between the two and have had several controversial moments. The rivalry has escalated so much throughout the years, and for the losing fans in this match it gives them a bitter pill to swallow. These two countries are the only superpowers in the west, which adds to the greatness of the rivalry. What really makes the rivalry excel, is the style with which these two teams play. You won't find two better nations to watch world wide then these two. Argentina and Brazil never seek to amaze you when you see them play. These are the two nations that produced the best two players of all time. Pele and Maradona. The debate over who was better will go on forever. This matchup on Saturday will be another thriller. Brazil currently lead in South America, by one point over Chile, and can all but book a place in South Africa with a win. For Argentina, this match is critical. They only lead Ecuador by 2 points, and are in real danger of slipping out of the automatic qualification places. A win for them is vital. No matter the result, it will be sensational to watch.

The Curse Continues

The Chicago Cubs haven't won a world series in 100 years and it looks like it might take another 100 before the win the next one. This team however, has hit a new low. The Cubs were predicted by many to win the world series, yet they sit just above .500 and out of playoff contention. They have been miserable underachievers. The fans are used to underachieving, but the off the field chaos is starting to wear the fans thin. The Cubs chemistry is horrible, as even acknowledged by the manager. The have a club house filled with head cases. Zambrano and Bradley are constantly pulling crap and getting into trouble. Many players have been in Pinella's dog house this season.Bradley, Fukodome, and Soriano are one of the most expensive outfields in baseball, but all have had miserable seasons. The Bradley situation is an interesting one. Their is no question he is a head case and the Cubs were stupid to sign him. Also, Bradley was stupid to save some of the things he recently said about feeling hatred and praying the game ends as soon as possible. However, Bradley claims that he has been racially abused by Cub fans. Many people might not believe him, but it is entirely plausible. Several Cubs players and former manager Dusty Baker claims that they were on the end of racial abuse by Cub fans. Just because a player is a head case, doesn't mean what he says isn't true. The Cubs fans who have a great reputation as happy, loyal, fun loving fans has been tarnished by these multiple allegations. This situation is a complete mess. Everyone is a fault in this case and no one comes out looking good. This has been one of the worst years in the Cubs history, which is really saying something.
